Spring is all about a clean start when our bodies naturally crave raw cleansing foods, which makes these green smoothie recipes the perfect way to enjoy all types of fresh spring produce. Many people start a cleanse in March to detox themselves from heavier foods in the winter, or to simply reboot their bodies as the season begins to change. With the air becoming lighter, the sun being just a bit brighter, and when foods are fresher than ever, what better time to start loving green smoothies than springtime? Each of these green smoothie recipes have unique nourishing and cleansing properties. Cleansing isn’t synonymous with dieting, and this isn’t a prescription for weight loss. Cleansing is about giving our bodies a needed rest from heavier digestion during the winter months and treating them to raw, energizing foods. THE ULTIMATE SUPER SMOOTHIE


Perhaps this one might just be the king of all green smoothie recipes. Featuring beautifying, cleansing ingredients such as spinach, avocado, romaine lettuce, lemon and chia seeds, this smoothie will have you glowing from the inside out. It is sweetened only with 2 dates, which are known as nature’s candy, and is completely raw. It makes a perfect breakfast that tastes like a thick milkshake and is hearty enough to get your through to lunchtime.


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups filtered water

  • 1 avocado (pitted & peeled)

  • 1 head romaine lettuce

  • 3 cups spinach

  • 2 dates (or substitute 2 tps honey)

  • Juice from one lemon

  • 2 tbsp. chia seeds

  • Dash of cinnamon (optional)





THE IMMUNITY BUILDER


The Immunity Builder is rich in antioxidants from acai, rich in Omega 3 fatty acids from chia seeds, and full of powerful antimicrobial agents from coconut oil, plus vitamin C from lemons, all of which aid immune function. Featuring cleansing greens such as kale and parsley, this smoothie is naturally a way to reboot your body and give you natural, sustaining energy.


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of filtered water

  • 1 pack of frozen acai fruit puree, or you may use 1 tbsp. raw acai powder. If you do not have acai or access to any, use ½ cup blueberries instead

  • 1 banana, peeled

  • 3 cups of kale (you may subtitute spinach for a milder taste)

  • 1-2 tbsp. raw organic coconut oil

  • Juice from one lemon

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 head of parsley, rinsed

  • ¼ cup chia seeds

This green smoothie recipe is all about beauty. Not only is it an excellent cleansing smoothie, but it is also a powerful tonic for the skin. Featuring high levels of vitamin C from raspberries, peaches and strawberries, it is also rich in vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene from Swiss Chard and romaine lettuce. Both greens are naturally sweet and blend amazingly with the fruits used in this smoothie. This smoothie is also rich in ALA, which are fatty acids that nourish the skin from flax seeds. Enjoy this smoothie first thing in the morning or afternoon for a beautifying, cleansing snack or as a light meal.


Ingredients:

  • 1 Peach, sliced (fresh or frozen)

  • 8 Strawberries (fresh or frozen)

  • ½ cup Raspberries ( fresh or frozen)

  • 2 large stalks swiss Chard or Kale

  • 1 head of Romaine Lettuce

  • 2 tbsp. raw Flaxseed

  • 1 tbsp. raw Coconut Oil

Perhaps one of the most powerful foods on the planet is raw cacao. It is the number one source of antioxidants, magnesium and iron per ounce of all raw foods. It also features natural diuretics and sources of potassium from cucumber and zucchini, which naturally slim you and hydrate you. Who ever said your smoothie couldn’t be as powerful as Superwoman? This smoothie is rich in energizing nutrients that feed your muscles and your brain. It is also naturally cleansing and beautifying. Featuring kiwi for your daily amounts of vitamin C, hemp seeds for protein and healthy fats, potassium from the banana, coconut oil for immunity, and romaine lettuce for additional Omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin K, this smoothie is perhaps one of my favorite. The secret ingredient is maca powder, a powerful energizing adaptogen, which helps the body adjust and cope with stress. It balances your hormones, gives you strength and energy, and adds a nice caramel flavor to smoothies.


Ingredients:

  • 1 Banana ( peeled and pre-frozen for best results)

  • 1 Kiwi, peeled

  • 4 tbsp. raw Hemp Seeds

  • 1 tbsp. raw Coconut Oil

  • 1 head of Romaine Lettuce

  • 1.5 Cups Filtered Water

  • 1 tsp. raw Maca powder

  • optional- Cinnamon for digestion and warmth



PRETTY WOMAN SMOOTHIE

Papayas are the superstar of this smoothie. If you’re new to papaya, then meet your skin and stomach’s new best friend. Papayas are extremely alkaline, meaning they lower acidity and inflammation in the skin and body. They contain natural enzymes that aid digestion and relieve stomach pains such as constipation, gas and bloating. They also have your 100% of your daily values of vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. This smoothie will leave your skin glowing and help slim you down naturally. It also is very filling due to the avocado used, which also makes this extremely nourishing. The fats in avocados help your body absorb the nutrients in the papaya. With minimal ingredients, this smoothie requires little effort to make a noticeable difference in your appearance and health.


Ingredients:

  • 1 large Papaya, halved and seeded, with the flesh scooped out

  • 1 whole Avocado, (pitted & peeled)

  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract

  • 2 Medjool Dates or you may use ¼ tsp. pure stevia extract

  • 2 cups raw Spinach greens

  • 2 cups Filtered Water




HEARTY SMARTY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE

If you have a tough day or busy morning ahead of you, power up with this hearty smoothie that is rich in brain nourishing ingredients. It is also loaded with fiber, which keeps you full longer. Featuring flax seeds, chia seeds, shredded coconut, organic blueberries and organic spinach, you’ll be full and sustained well through lunch time.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen Blueberries

  • 2 tbsp. organic raw Flaxseed

  • 2 tbsp. organic raw Chia Seed

  • ¼ cup raw shredded Coconut

  • 1 scoop Hemp Protein Powder ( or you may use your favorite raw protein powder)

  • 1 Banana, peeled ( or you may sub in an avocado for creaminess)

  • 3 cups raw Baby Spinach

  • Dash each of Cinnamon and Ginger



GREEN TEA GODDESS SHAKE

If you’re looking for antioxidants, look no further than this smoothie featuring unheated matcha green tea powder. If you don’t have access to matcha, which is higher in antioxidants than regular processed green tea, you may open up one regular green tea bag and use the inside contents as a replacement. This smoothie is such a beautiful green color, you will automatically feel beautiful and cleansed when drinking it. The energizing properties of matcha green tea and chia seeds sustain you naturally for longer, while also providing calming properties that fight stress, which is essential to a detox and good skin.


Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Kale, chopped

  • ¼ tsp. Matcha Green Tea

  • 1 cup frozen Strawberries

  • 1 Medjool Date ( rich in potassium and B vitamins)- you may also use ¼ pure stevia for less sugar

  • 2 cups Almond milk

  • ¼ cup raw Chia Seed



SWEET AND SPICY SMOOTHIE


Featuring raw, chopped sweet potato, which is high in vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber, magnesium and B vitamins, along with raw medjool dates, this smoothie is perfectly sweet and yet spicy when ginger and cinnamon are added. It makes a wonderful filling breakfast or lunch. Your skin will glow and energy will soar with this smoothie. The fiber from sweet potatoes and dates are naturally slimming and cleansing. They also help to keep you full longer without bloating you. This tastes like a cold creamy dessert instead of a green smoothie and is one of the best to try if you’re new to green smoothies.


Ingredients:

  • 1 small Sweet Potato, peeled and chopped

  • 2 Medjool Dates ( or you may sub in ¼ tsp. pure stevia for a lower sugar smoothie

  • 1 head of Romaine Lettuce

  • Small knob of Ginger or ¼ tsp. powdered Ginger

  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp. organic Flaxseed

  • 2 tbsp. organic Chia Seed

  • 1 tsp. raw Coconut Oil

  • 1.5 cups Almond milk




SUPER DETOX GREEN SMOOTHIE


This smoothie is one of the best for a pure, raw detox. It is high in enzymes from pineapple that not only aid digestion, but also slim and energize you. A good digestion is optimal for a good detox. Your body’s ability to take in nutrients during this time is critical to nourish your cells on a deep level. Enjoy this smoothie first thing in the day for a dose of enzymes to get you started off on the best food possible. This smoothie’s star detox ingredient is cilantro, which gives this smoothie an incredible taste that can’t be beat, and detoxes your body from heavy metals and environmental toxins. Raw coconut oil is used to fight bacteria in the body, and detox your liver. Enjoy this smoothie and your body will thank you!


Ingredients:

  • 2 whole bunches of organic Cilantro, rinsed

  • 2 cups raw baby Spinach

  • 2 cups frozen Pineapple ( or use fresh)

  • 1 tbsp. raw Coconut Oil

  • 2 cups Filtered Water


DIRECTIONS FOR ALL SMOOTHIES


  1. In a large, powerful blender, such as a Vitamix , Blendtec, Nutribullet or Magic Bullet, place all the ingredients in the order listed. A normal household blender will also work but may take a little longer.

  2. Blend on low for 10 seconds and increase to high speed for 10 more seconds until a thick, shake-like consistency is reached.

  3. Consume immediately, place in the fridge for later use (use within 24 hrs), or freeze and thaw when you are ready to use.
