My Story

My story of how my career in Natural Health began isn't very long, but it did begin a long time ago. 

In 1983, when at the young age of 30, my mother Christine, was diagnosed with an inoperable Stage 3 Astrocytoma brain tumor. At the advice of the doctors, she decided to undergo Radiation treatment. They told her to go home and get her affairs in order, that there was only a 10 percent chance of survival due to the size and location of her tumor.

As this therapy was still in its infancy, my mother was one of the first people with her type of brain tumor to be treated with radiation. Because of this, the medical professionals were still working in basically uncharted territory, and were still learning about the best ways to utilize this healing modality. Being a person with a fair complexion she was very sensitive to the radiation. She was given larger doses then were safe for her. Against all odds, after 3 months of radiation treatments and many prayers, the tumor was indeed eliminated, but the brain tissue that the radiation passed through was also damaged, causing brain damage to a part of her brain, and would eventually lead atrophy of the brain tissue.

For 15 years, Mom was generally healthy, other than a limp in her gait caused by the brain damage. Then in 1999, she started to experience increased difficulty getting her leg to function correctly and would easily trip and fall. The doctors diagnosed her with Radiation Disease to which Western Medicine has no known cure.

The progression of Radiation Disease is very similar to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease, or Motor Neuron Disease) which is a disease that gradually paralyzes its victim because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body, that we are typically able to move at will. Over time, as the muscles break down, the person looses the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow and eventually breath.

The progression of Mom's disease was slow, and much of the time excruciatingly painful. Most of her pain was due to frequent muscle spasms and cramps that were the result of the lost of contact of her brain with her muscles. Her doctor tried all kinds of pain medication but nothing really helped. She ended up taking higher and higher doses of morphine to take the edge off of the pain. It was so hard to watch her suffer, being helpless to do anything. We tried everything that we could think of to help, from cannabis, to hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Alas, nothing helped.

Then one day one of Mom's nurses suggested Reiki treatments. She knew of a gifted, wonderful lady named Darlene, that offered these treatments, so we scheduled and appointment with her. From the very first treatment, Mom was able to go from being tense and in extreme pain to very relaxed with little pain. It was amazing! The nurses commented that Mom was asking for less pain medication after her regular treatments. She also began to become more accepting of her fate, and was no longer fearful of dying. All around, the Reiki treatments were a true blessing.

Then one day, after a few months of treatments, Darlene suggested that my family learn Reiki so that we could give her treatment ourselves whenever needed. We agreed that this was indeed a fantastic idea! We gathered at my parents house and Myself and my Mom & Dad all learned about the Usui Reiki healing system, and were initiated into Reiki level 1. It was truly a blessing that we were now able to help Mom anytime that we were with her.

On April 22, 2004, Mom received her wings, and graduated from this life to the next.

Even after Mom had passed away, I still felt drawn to help people with the Reiki healing gift. I also became interested in learning about other healing modalities. In 2006, I attended the Canadian Institute of Natural Health and Healing, located in Kelowna, British Columbia. I graduated in 2007 at the top of my class from the Natural Health Practitioner Diploma and Reiki Master programs.

Upon graduation, I immediately opened my first wellness studio, Transcendence Wellness Center, in a small office in a business center. Then after 2 years I decided to take and opportunity to join the amazing therapists at the Core Chiropractic. I was there until 2011 at which time I decided that I needed a change of pace. I decided to go mobile and focus on Corporate Chair Massage and to also do Residential Cleaning as well, which is also something that I have a passion for and am skilled at.

Then in 2013 our family decided that we needed one last member to complete us. in 2014 she was born, and we decided that it would be best, if we could manage it, for me to stay home and raise our new arrival.

Fast forward to 2019, and that new arrival is now ready to start Kindergarten, and for me to get back to my career! October 1st, 2019 is my official re-launch date, and I will begin offering mobile services once again. I am dedicated to helping you achieve vibrant health and wellbeing; Body, Mind & Spirit.
